I Dare You

It's like he doesn't belong here.
He belongs somewhere else
Somewhere different
Somewhere better

He's what I'd call unworldly
Overcome with the consciousness of how he's staring at me
Making me feel as if I should impress him with my breath
I've never met anyone quite like you

I have to resist casting my eyes
Slipping my fingers through yours
Leaning in when you're close
My mind drifts to darker, secret places

Where your lips touch mine
Dreams in the darkest of nights
I wish I had a fix for you
Yet your energy makes my insides quiver

You fascinate me, you confuse me
You annoy me, you inspire me
Every time I ache to tell you
And let you inside

I want to share the air in my lungs with you
I want you to hold me too tight
Your eyes to find their way to mine
Corrupt me with their stories

I'm lucky I can still stand you
Feeling this way when you're around
Whispers of warm breath on my skin
I shiver to regain control

So come, knit my dreams back together
I hear your laugh and my mind goes blank
I know you're there and my heart races
Take me apart and build me back stronger than before
